Hey guys... waaasssuuuuuuuupp!!

OK - it may still be Summer, but we're already looking straight past Autumn and right into Winter!
We are sooooo looking forward to receiving our fresh selection of stock - and hope that you guys are ready to get some of it ordered up!

Big statements coming in from Capita, Union have signed Danny Kass and Gigi Rüf... stronger and stronger, and Amplid have pulled out what looks to be the lightest snowboard in production! (Dan's got one on the way!)

We're gonna be adding all of the new products onto the site shortly - and loads will be available for pre-order... as a lot of this years stock is in high demand already, and you don't wanna miss out now do ya?!?

We're ON SALE!!!

Well... I guess we're closer to the end of the season now than the beginning, so we thought we'd offer you all a treat!

All of the snowboards that we have left in stock... are ON SALE!!!
You really should get these while you can... due to the exchange rates and rise in costs, products fro next season are going up by approximately 20%!

We've seen what we're ordering for next season already, and its all as crazy-cool as ever;
Capita have some amazing new graphics on their full range, and Amplid have brought out a very special new board for all other manufacturers to try and match upto... it's lighter than nany board we've ever got our hands on before!
On top of this - Union have come out with an amazing array of bindings as per usual... and this year we've decided to bring in some Force MCs - basically the lightest bindings available on the market, made of Carbon Fibre! If you want a set, let us know... as these badboys will set you back approx £300 a pair!

If you have any requests for next season... let us know and we'll see what we can do for you... you know we'll be the cheapest store in the UK!!!

Chillax, Go Do It...!

Well our first week out on the slopes went exactly to plan...
Blue skies, scorching sunshine and deserted slopes - sounds like heaven to us, and it was!

Just to give you all a little insight into what performed well for us - Rad took out the Amplid Falconoid, and it was awesome. A Super fun board to play about - light with a forgiving flex, and a tasty bit of pop. Couple that with Rad's Union Data Pinstripes and we had a sick ride to try out for the day.

On top of that, Dan's KFC bindings did the trick this year - glinting in the sun, cathcing people's eyes while riding and rocking up at a mountain bar... uber cool!

We've been back a week and the post holiday blues had set in, and have just about gone now, but cold wet and wondy Yorkshire brought us back down to earth with a bump!!!

Anyway back to business - drop us a line if you are heading out to the snow - hopefully we'll be having another week out there shortly... WE NEED IT!

We're All Going On A..........

We would like to make all of our customers aware that our shipping department (Dan & Rad!!), is closed for the week beginning Monday 12th of January, and will re-open the following Monday - the 18th of January.

This is due to our first annual store snowboard trip of the season... WooHaa!!

We are heading out to Andorra for a week - which makes it tricky to ship out orders... it's a long commute back to Blighty!!

So - if you place an order from tomorrow onwards (Sunday 11th Jan), your order won't be sent out to you until Monday the 18th.
We would like to apologise in advance if this causes any inconvenience.

Back 2 Normal - Not Quite Yet...!!!

A few questions for you all.....

Was the Christmas and New Year good to you?
Did you get all you wanted??

Well - in answer to those three questions;

Dan @ Chill - Great Xmas & New Year, a nice break and some good food - loved it!!
Rad @ Chill - Got everything I asked for - a new Amplid Falconoid shred stick!!
Dan & Rad - Yeah we head out to the snow for our first shop trip of the year on Sunday the 11th of Jan 2009!!

This means, Chill's shipping department (i.e. Dan & Rad!), will be closed for the week commencing 12th Jan, and will reopen w/c Monday 19th Jan 2009.

We hope this doesn't put you off from buying through the week that we are away - normal service will be resumed on the 19th as mentioned above, and we will of course be on our Blackberry's to answer any emails you have for us whilst we are away!!

Thanks for your understanding - we're sure as fellow riders you will appreciate that nothing stands in between a man (or girl!) and their thirst for the white stuff... SNOW!

Festive Yet?

All set for the Cristmas Break??

We - Dan & Rad - would like to wish everybody (Especially our customers!!), a VERY MERRY Christmas and a HAPPY New Year!!!!!

Chill Snowboards are open for business during the festive period - if you want to spend your Christmas readies with us - who are we to stop you?!?!
A lot has sold out already, so get your hands on some new kit before its all gone!

We have been having issues with our phone system recently (apologies to those of you that we have taken a little while to come back to), so leave us a message and we'll give you a buzz back as soon as we can. Finally - we'll be heading off to the slopes ourselves for the first time this season on the 11th of January... We're aiming for Soldeu in Andorra seen as though they've had their best snow in over five years!

Well - it looks like the credit crunch has hit us indirectly... our website hosting company has gone into difficulty and looks like they have gone into administration...!!

It's left us with some issues that we are now fixing, so please bare with us.

Looks like there's some snow out there doesn't it!!!
With the biggest early season dumps in over a decade - who cares about the 'Credit Crunch' - get those holidays booked and get yourselves out there to the snow...

Oh - by the way, has anybody been playing the new Shaun White Snowboarding game? Or more importantly, have you seen the super cool brands that they are promoting??
UNION Bindings, CAPITA Snowboards & COAL Beanies no less... yes we can reveal that Shaun rides Burton gear on camera, but he rides Union Bindings on his Capita Board the rest of the time whilst rocking a Coal Beanie! (Honest!!!!!)

On top of beanies selling very quickly, goggles have now picked up the pace also. So if you are browsing at the moment or are still comparing prices (of which we will be the cheapest by the way!), I'd get them ordered quick before we run out. They are the perfect Christmas present after all!!

Well - the snow draws ever closer... are you prepared?

You may have noticed, we don't stock Burton, we don't stock Ride, we don't stock K2 - it's not because we don't like them, afterall granted they make great equipment, but whats wrong with being a little different?

"Don't you wanna stand out from the crowd?"

Capita has to be one of the best board brands out there, and us Uber Cool - and thats why Capita board owners come back for more - same goes for Union bindings. They are only in their 4th year but they have a big core following.

Q. What do you get if you buy Burton?
A. Hows about the guy stood next to you in the lift queue riding the same bindings and wearing your jacket?!?!

Now.... just a word of warning... Coal Beanies are selling damn fast - and looking like we won't get any more stock of them until next month! So order them while they are in stock!!!!!

Freeze was off the hook!!!

A good time was had by all - we saw some amazing riding, the jump was huge and the crowd loved it!
We've got a few good snaps of a few choice riders in our gallery - be sure to take a look won't ya.

The musis was great too... Sway worked the crowd into a frenzy, Iglu & Hartly rocked up a bit of a storm, but none of them could compete with Cypress Hill - we had never seen so many people bouncing all at the same time... Insane in the Brain!

You're probably already in the know, but for those of you that aren't, highlights of the whole festival are on Channel 4 on Sunday @ 8am. Make sure you watch it - and look out for the guy in the crowd wearing a white Coal headband!!!!!

Who's heading down (or up!) to London this weekend???

Well Chill are - ands its gonna rock!!

We will be at Metro today - checking out whats hot and whats not with other like-minded boarders... and then onto Freeze tomorrow night to watch some BIG AIR - including the likes of Danny Kass & Antti Autti do their thing. Not to mention check out Cypress Hill who are headlining the music festival side of the event for the weekend. Awesome!!!

We'll have access to our email, so why not drop us a line if you are about and fancy a beer - we're happy to give you advice or give you any info regarding any of our products/brands... after all thats what we're here for!

Right - time to jump in the car and start the 3 and a half hour drive 'Darn Sarf'... See ya there!!!

We're Back... Oh Yeah!!

Yo...!

Thanks for waiting patiently for the new look Chill site to get up and running!

Its been a long Summer with not a lot of sunshine - and now, in the blink of an eye, we're back round to the cold beginnings of Autumn.
Don't get us wrong, we love the turn in the seasons, the new snowboarding kit coming out, the mad rush to get exactly what you want before it sells out, but most of all, when it gets cold, you know the snow is on the way!!!

Whilst we sit here watching a bunch of snowboarding movies - at the beginning of October, we're already thinking about those first runs down the Mountain. I'll tell you now that we'll be on the first lifts when we get out there!!

But, before we can do that, we need to help you guys get what you want!
All of our stock is available online now, and if there is anything from any of the brands that you had your heart set on, drop us a line and we should be able to get hold of it for you.

Anyway - for now, we'll let you continue browsing - but if you need our help, drop us a line!!

How to Survive a Skilift Ride on a Snowboard

All ski lifts without exception are, as the name suggests, designed for transporting skiers. This is something of a problem for participants in the fastest-growing sport in history. There are two basic problems which rapidly become apparent even to novice snowboarders:
Both your feet are bolted to the same plank and you have no poles. Therefore, once you've stopped, there are two ways to get about - hopping around in an ungainly fashion or, the ultimate indignity, unstrapping your bindings and walking as hordes of smug skiers swoosh past using their poles.

You are going sideways, dude!

Novices may think that they are, therefore, at something of a disadvantage when using a ski lift and in some cases they may well be. However, this should not put them off. The following useful advice is gleaned from several seasons of European snowboarding. It is aimed at the competent intermediate snowboarder, rather than the complete beginner. Complete beginners should either have an instructor with them, or stick to cabin lifts.

Boards and Bindings

Snowboards themselves, come in three varieties:

Alpine boards have a raised front lip but a flat back end. These are mainly used for racing.
Freeride boards are completely symmetrical, front and back, and can be ridden in any direction, either face-front or backwards (fakey). This is the most popular type of board.
Freestyle boards are semi-directional, with their front lip slightly higher than the back. However, riding fakey is still possible on these boards.

Typically the shorter the board the easier it is to ride, and it is recommended that all beginners should start off with a short freeride board. How short depends on the rider's height and weight, but the board must be able to flex. It is recommended that you try out different-sized boards before you buy. Bindings are used to attach the riders feet to the board and these come in two styles:

Soft binding is the type of strap binding that is the most comfortable, flexible and inexpensive, making it the most popular choice.
Step-in binding is the type that has semi-hard boots which clamp directly on to the board. They are easier to get in and out of but they're more expensive.
